Activision recently released the LAPA SMG to Call of Duty: Warzone and Black Ops Cold War. So I was curious to see what was the best way to level up guns fast in the game.
After trying out multiple game modes in both Cold War and Warzone I figured out the best way to level up guns fast was in Zombies. They released a Halloween update for The Haunting event which adds Pumpkin Loot drops to all the Zombies maps.
On the new map “Forsaken” the first room spawns zombies at a crazy rate, before the Halloween update you would have to get out of the starting room around round 10, that is not the case anymore. Without wasting too much time lets go over my strategy.
The Strategy
To level up guns fast there are a couple things that you need to do. The first thing you will want to do is go to Zombies and create a class with the gun you wish to get max level on. Then enable any Double Weapon XP tokens you may have and load up the map “Forsaken” on Cold War Zombies.

Once you’re in the map you will notice the zombies will spawn in very fast, now killing zombies is easy at first but as the rounds progress it will start to get hard. Now personally I will stay in the starting room until round 35ish, but you may be wondering how in the world do I survive that long with no Pack-A-Punched guns.
Well over the course of killing zombies they will begin to drop Jack-O-Lanterns which you can open and earn guns, upgrades and more. I’ll be going over what every drop does down below.
- Equip Your Desired Weapon
- Use a Double Weapon XP Token
- Load Up Zombies Map Forsaken
- Stay in Starting Room
- Use Jack-O-Lantern Drops to Upgrade Weapon
- Stay Till Round 35ish and Repeat if Necessary
As you can see from this reddit post this event is kind of crazy when it comes to the amount of rewards and upgrades that are dropped on the ground!
Different Drops
Now to be able to level up guns fast you need to run thru the round as quickly as possible, and staying in the starting room will accomplish that. But you need to know what the new Halloween Drops do in order to survive until a high round.
- Jack-O-Lanterns: Open these to get weapons, upgrades and more
- Chalice
- Weapons Mods
- Raygun, Chrysalax
- Aether Tool
- Killstreaks
- Chalice: Use these to Pack-A-Punch your guns
- Aether Tool: Use this to upgrade your guns rarity
Just in case you don’t know, you can pick up the salvage on the ground to upgrade your gun at the armor station, and can also craft killstreaks, tacticals and lethals at the wor kbench. If you happen to get downed be sure to save up salvage to craft another self revive at the work bench.
